Puzhal is a town in Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town is well known for Puzhal Jail(Asia's largest prison) and Velammal Engineering College.and the church full gospel prayer house Puzhal is located on the banks of Red Hills Lake.

As of 2001 India census[1], Puzhal had a population of 20,297. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Puzhal has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 84%, and female literacy is 68%. In Puzhal, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
