Putter Smith (Born Patrick Smith on 19th January' 1941, California, U.S.) is an American jazz bassist, teacher and actor, who played Mr. Kidd in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.

He is the author of the book "Putter Smith: Improvising Handbook, for Double Bass". Which is occasionally available at book fayres.
