Puthucode is a small village in Palakkad district of Kerala state, south India. and is a panchayat under Alathur Taluk in Palakkad district. It has an old Bhagavathy Temple some 400 years old called Shree Annapoorneswari Temple which is in the centre of 4 Gramamsstreets ,viz,South ,East,North and West, each street being called Villages.A temple tank is lying in front of the temple. At the end of North Village, there is a Shiva temple and a tank.next to Shiva temple a Mandapam called `Shiva Mahal` has also been built. It has an elementary School,a High School and a Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan Branch centre, besides an Ayurvedic Hospital. The Navarathi season is festival of the Hindus and both temples are decorated and the uniquenes is the congregation of people who were originally in Puthucode but settled elsewhere make it a point to come and attend Navarathri celebrations. The Famous Puthucode Kovil Pulingari or Pulungari is a variant from the sambar family. This one is a speciality at puthucode. Made during the Navratri festival in the village, it is a unique dish with a special taste – especially when made in the temple during Navratri. People used to travel from other neighbourhood places to taste the pulungari. This one is divinely tasty, but is distinct from the taste of sambar though. It uses only a combination of the four veggies – white pumpkin (elavan/safed bhopla), yellow pumpkin (maththan/laal bhopla), raw bananas (vazhakkya/kachcha kela), and elephant foot yam (chenai/suran).
The other unique feature about puthucode is its secularistic atmosphere. Puthucode village was once dominated entirely by the brahmins and the Theruvu is entirely dominated by the Muslim population and there is only one small road dividing these two places and any religious rivalry is still unheard of in this small village. It has a newly built mosque at Karapethai. The celebrations during the traditional [[Nercha) season are famous.
The Sarvajana High School situated at the end of west village was once knwon as the sankrit college.
