What does it mean that Madonna, Aquilera, and Spears were in "pussycat garb"? Was there any actual association with the group or were they just wearing pin-up outfits? MK2 16:43, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hey Yall, if you go to Amazon.com, and type in Pussycat Dolls, or PCD, you will find the album cover for their album coming out in September. I think you guys should put that up here, instead of the "Don't Cha" Single CD cover.

[edit] Rumors
Official policy Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons states:
- Remove unsourced or poorly sourced controversial material
- Editors should remove any controversial material about living persons that is either unsourced, relies upon sources that do not meet standards specified in Wikipedia:Reliable sources, or is a conjectural interpretation of a source. [edit] Source
Hi. You guys might wanna check out this site. It contains some information about the group. Notice this: our article says the group was created in 1995, but this website states that it was created in 1993, but the first performance took place in 1995. Have we committed a quid-pro-quo, or is the website wrong? May be worth checking. Regards, Redux 04:52, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Also, if you want to insert biographies of the members, you can find the information here. Careful not to violate copyrights though, but this kind of information might help the article. Redux 05:06, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] New Layout
Thanks to whoever had the layout cause the singles with the pics and album cover looks great!!
Someone needs to fix 'Sway.' That was their first song, it was already released in 2004. That needs to be put in front of 'Don't Cha.'
[edit] single info
the pussycat dolls released a song and a video for a movie before the release of "Don't cha". I don't remember the name of the movie but it was with Jennifer Lopez, something about dancing... not very old...
Just tought it should be added to the singles area...
"Sway" is the song you're talking about. Most people still consider "Don't Cha" to be the 1st single. 132.208.24.101 23:39, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't "Sway" be added as first single, as it was the first single? -- Luigi-ish 09:40, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't matter what people 'consider' to be their first single, it matter what IS their first single and that would be "Sway", NOT "Don't Cha".
im glad somone else brought this up, im am fed up of people saying that dont cha was their debut single when sway was, its like how people consider crazy in love to be beyonces first single when it was work it out, its only because sway failed to chart in the u.s 'fans' of 'the dolls' are ashamed and want to forget/pretend that it was never released because they hate to admit that their first single was a flop and not a huge hit like dont cha was 81.1.112.20 23:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism and Vocalists Sections
I removed the "Criticism" section, which consisted of a single line: The Pussycat Dolls' composer's songs have been continuously criticized for their sexual references, and some critics think that their songs have no meaning. That could be said about 90% of all pop artists. If anyone has anything of substance to add, please feel free to resurrect it.
Also, I find the tone of the "Vocalists" section to be a little odd. Only one member of the group is a regular singer; three of the girls have only sung on one track, a b-side. Given that the group is considered a singing act, this is clearly a significant detail, but this section seems to dismiss the critics as uninformed. What the dill-yo? --Aemilia 01:26, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
The "Vocalists" section and part of the "Repertoire" section were removed. I think they are both valid inclusions and I'll reinstate them. --Design 11:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] PCD is Gold
http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/search_results.asp
It was just certified Gold in December I doubt it has sold 600,000 copies in a month and a half. Its only gold not platinum someone needs to change it and keep it like that.
On her PCD diary, Nicole Scherzinger confirmed that PCD went platinum.
[edit] Roles of group
It's my understanding (from Allmusic) that only Scherzinger is actually involved in the musical aspects of the group, with the rest of the members pretty much explicitly eye candy/dancers, with no musical involvement at all. I quote Allmusic: Open the booklet for their 2005 debut, PCD, and their artificiality is made clear: the first page reads "All lead and background vocals by Nicole Scherzinger. Should this be made clearer, and Scherzinger's role mentioned earlier in the article? john k 00:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
-
- Carmit and Melody also sang in their song Beep.
- Do you have a source on that? Allmusic says the booklet says that all lead and background vocals are by Scherzinger. john k 18:53, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- The booklet also says: "Additional vocals by Melody Thornton and Carmit Bachar." My friend has the booklet himself, and I read it. Euqinimod 03:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Carmit and Melody also sang in their song Beep.
[edit] complete rewrite needed
As the original author of this article, way back when, I think we need a complete rewrite here. The Pussycat Dolls started as a burlesque dance troop and the original article reflected this. Now they are a pop singing group - the article has evolved to reflect this but the change was so substantial, I think the article would benefit from somebody starting it over from scratch. As an analogy, it would have been like if we had started a Wikipedia article on Ronald Reagan back when he was an actor and then continuously updated it through his subsequent political career - at some point, we should acknowledge we're essentially talking about a different subject than the one we started with. MK2 03:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. A massive revision would be a good idea. john k 04:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tainted Love
The cover version recorded by the Pussycat Dolls is a medley "Tainted Love/Where did our love go". The source of this cover is accurately attributed to Soft Cell, as their hit '80s version was a medley of the same two songs. The original individual songs are correctly attributed to Gloria Jones & The Supremes, respectively. A recent edit credited Diana Ross as the original source for "Tainted Love", and removed reference to Soft Cell. I will revert this edit. Design 01:06, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New Song or Unreleased?
on Last.FM, on the songs list, it's says the Pussycat Dolls have a song called "Fever". [Put title here]- Hill03
- They used to perform this song (the Peggy Lee classic), usually with Carmen Electra singing, back when they were still known as a dance troupe. I don't know if the current incarnation stills performs the song. MK2 02:09, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vegas Show
Does this article need some clarification about the PCD show in Las Vegas, as a separate entity to the touring group with Nicole Scherzinger? Are they two differnet things? Aren't most of the live guests, like Denise Richards, appearing in Vegas, not with the Scherzinger group? Design 09:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- I remember hearing and reading about the fact that the PCD showgirls are different than the PCD group, although (obviously) they're connected. I just don't know where I heard it from...but it was an official source. SKS2K6 06:13, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nicole leaving??
On Nicole's wikipedia page it says that she is leaving the pussycat dolls after her contractual commitments to the PCD album are up. Is this true or just a rumor? And if it is true who will be taking over lead vocals if nicole leaves the group? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.49.194.48 (talk • contribs)
Nicole is not leaving. But she IS releasing a solo album. I fixed her page because she has stated that she will be with them for the next album too. Also, Melody Thornton would probably take over, because she has the second most amount of solos and her voice is heard the second-most in all the songs.
[edit] Salaried employees of Interscope??
On Melody Thornton's wiki page it says that she is a salaried employee of Interscope like the rest of the Pussycat Dolls. what exactly does this mean and how is this different to arrangements that other recording artists usually have with their label? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.49.194.48 (talk • contribs)
- A common arrangement is where the recording artist has a contract with the label for their recordings only. The artist would usually have their own management, publisher, lawyers, touring company, merchandise company, etc. quite separate from the label. This means the artist would have potentially more "artistic" control over their business, more "revenue streams" under their control, and focus on their own career. If they are a group, then the membership of the group would commonly be decided by the members themselves.
Since the Dolls are employees then nearly all of the above would be controlled by Interscope, including the ability to hire & fire. The label's focus would probably be on Interscope's profits (short term?) and could possibly conflict with the long term career of the Dolls members. The Spice Girls might make an interesting comparison: they were formed by a manager, whom they later fired, and they went on to control their own affairs, and spawn some solo success. So it's not necessarily all doom for the solo futures of the current Dolls. --Design 10:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Past members?
The info box currently lists Eva Longoria and Christina Aguilera as "past members". They are already listed as "guests" towards the end of the article. Guests is probably more accurate; if so, then their names should be removed from the info box. --Design 10:49, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Album Sales via Media Traffic!
okay, in 2005 countdown it states that PCD sold 1.6 million copies, then in the first week of 2006 it says that PCD sold 268,000 copies but u dont add that to the end of year total because that 268,000 copies was already added to the total, so if u still dont understand, first week of 2006 is added to 2005 countdown, I know this because media traffic is updated every friday and the first week of 2006 was actually first shown in the last friday of 2005. if u want to add something to that please do.I always learn from my mistakes!thank u for ur time.
[edit] Discography
I recommend that the detailed discography continue with its own current article, and that the discog. in this article be reduced with less detail. The current table format makes it take up a lot of space. --Design 00:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I propose reducing the discog. by removing the images and some other details (all of which will remain at The Pussycat Dolls discography), unless there is a consensus to the contrary. --Design 12:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Candy Baby 1234 (talk · contribs) and her IP sockpuppets 213.122.125.30 (talk • contribs • info • WHOIS) and 213.122.65.214 (talk • contribs • info • WHOIS) (see Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Candy Baby 1234) are continually removing the Pop music genre from this article and several other Pussycat Dolls-related articles. To suggest that this group is not a pop group and purely an R&B group is ridiculous. Does anybody else feel that PCD is not a pop group? --musicpvm 19:00, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Genre
Pussycat Dolls is a Pop Group, however to suggest they are purely pop is also wrong. I agree with different points made by Candy Baby 1234 (talk · contribs) & musicpvm. Pussycat Dolls have very strong R&B/Hip Hop influences, however they also make Pop. Don't Cha has Pop, Hip Hop and R&B influences. Stickwitu is more prominently R&B but is still poppy. Beep is the same. Buttonz is has stronger R&B/Hip Hop[ influences so I believe that is the only song so far that isnt a Pop Song. Wait a Minute and I Dont Need A Man are very Pop-orientated, wheras How Many Times, How Many Lies has stronger R&B influences.
So to sum up, I think R&B, Hip Hop and Pop should be featured in the article.

[edit] Proper Genre.
Three users, me included, seem to be involved in an edit war. One user keeps changing the genre to R&B and Hip Hop, while the other user and I have reverted The Pussycat Dolls' genre back to Pop/R&B/Dance/Hip hop. Technically, their genre is pop, R&B, dance, and also hip hop. They're not just R&B and hip hop. I am willing, however, to go with a consensus on the genre. Acalamari 17:59, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Christina Applegate
The article currently states:
"1993–2003: Dance troupe beginnings Some sources claim that Robin Antin began exploring the idea of a modern burlesque troupe in 1993 with her friend Linh Le and Christina Applegate (both friends since high school)"
Can someone cite a source for Linh Le? Or is this just a lingering piece of vandalism? Also needs some clarification as to who were friends "since high school"; since Antin was born in 1961 and Applegate in 1971 they were probably not students together. Does the writer mean that Le and Applegate were friends "since high school"? --Design 11:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Double The Trouble/Fired Up
The second pussycat doll album has been confirmed to be either 'Double The Trouble' or 'Fired Up'. Main Vocals are said to come from Nicole Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts and the new member. Jessica Sutta, Carmit Bachar and Kimberley wyatt are said to have some solo spots but are more on the background vocal side even though Jessica sutta will have a much more prominent vocal role then Kimberley Wyatt and Carmit Bachar. The album is said to be released in september in the U.S and is said to be released in october in Europe and Australia.Rumors are that Ashley Roberts will take the most prominent vocal role as she has been claimed to be one of the best vocalists in the group as she has been compared to Mariyln Monroe and has been voted the second favourtie pussycat doll (in lead Nicole Scherzinger, third Melody Thornton). Also the new member ( rumored to be Melissa Smith) may also be taking the second most prominent vocal role followed by Nicole Scherzinger and then Melody Thornton. There second album is said to have cover versions of songs such as: 'Shame','Erotica' and a mash up of 'Fever/Big spender' (Lead is said to be Carmit and Melody Thornton). Nicole Scherzinger confirmed taht she has written 12 songs for the group and Melody Thornton also confirmed that she has written tracks for the next album. Tracklisting Confirmation: Work It Lead Vocals:(Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Melody Thornton) New Guy Lead Vocals: (New Member,Jessica Sutta,Ashley Roberts) Caught Up Lead Vocals:(Kimberly Wyatt,Carmit Bachar, Nicole Scherzinger) My Baby Lead Vocals:( Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton and Jessica Sutta) Fever/Big Spender (Melody Thornton, Carmit Bachar) This Time Lead Vocals: (New Member, Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberley Wyatt) Erotica Lead Vocals:( Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton and Carmit Bachar) Ooh Lead Vocals:(Jessica Sutta, New Member and Kimberley Wyatt) Stay Here Lead Vocals:(Adlhey Roberts, New Member and Carmit Bachar)
The Pussycat Dolls second album is said To be more RNB but with a twist of techno-pop and urban. It is also confirmed that on this album there are going to be more ballads like there number on hit 'stickwitu' for instance: 'My baby', 'Stay here' and 'New Guy' are confirmed to be the ballads. there is also four more tracks that may be confirmed. 1)Bet u want me Lead vocals: (New Member, Carmit Bachar and Ashley Roberts) 2) Why lead vocals:(Jessica Sutta, Nicole Scherinzger, Kimberley Wyatt) 3)Me n u 4ever Lead vocals: (Melody Thornton,Ashley Roberts,Nicole Scherzinger) 4)Dolls Lead Vocals:( All of pcd)
Ashley, The new Member, Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton will be the girls who have the most vocals in the order that is written.
The album will feature various artists: P.Diddy, Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, timabaland, Fergie, Will.I.AM
There is a rumor that Christina will appear on two songs one with more then 1 pcd and one with Melody as Melody and christina has similar voices.
This album is said to hopefully become bigger then there first album, PCD as all the dolsl will have vocals.

[edit] Discussion Over The Current Edits.
I'm posting this message in order to prevent further reverts on this article. I would like to discuss why JJH1992 keeps reverting Mel Etitis. If the version by Mel Etitis is the proper article format, why bother reverting it? JJH1992, what is the point of changing the article to a non-standard format? Acalamari 19:00, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- I believe my version looks tidier, and also the picture looks better than the terrible one that used to be used. Mel Etitis is forever reverting my edits without even looking, its very annoying. JJH1992 19:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Even so, if your revision doesn't go with the standard format, why go against the proper format? I must also point out to you that you've reverted us three times in the last few hours: 1, 2, 3. Acalamari 19:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
JJH1992's rationale seems to be that his taste overrides Wikipedia guidelines, policies, and standards; I'm afraid that it doesn't. He also refuses to explain his edits, or give sources for substantive changes — and the images that he uploads are too often wrongly licensed, unsourced, etc., as in this case. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, which is why I started this discussion. I'd like to know why JJH1992 is editing like this. Continual reversion and uploading of unfree/wrongly licensed images are reasons to block a user. JJH1992 has to stop this; he's already been blocked multiple times before for edit warring and failure to discuss his edits. Acalamari 20:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Unfortunately it seems as though he's determined to be blocked yet again. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:47, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Repertoire
I propose reinstating the list of recorded and live cover versions, and would like to throw this open to discussion: (a) I think the point of the examples is to illustrate a relationship between the Dolls current repertoire and their burlesque roots. Their inclusion of so many '50s-'60s "jazzy" tunes with vamps shows this "root", AND is distinctive, given that they are a mainstream 21st century pop group. (b) This may be a reason such a list is not in "comparable articles". (c) The list of recorded cover versions is complete and up to date (tracks from PCD, b-sides & bonus tracks). While the list of live cover versions may not be exhaustive, it does not claim to be (it says "includes"). (d) Yes, cited refs. for all the live cover versions would be good. --Design 08:00, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- Much of this is OR. All that's needed, in any case, is some version of part what you say here, rewritten for inclusion in the article (if citations can be found); a list of songs is unnecessary. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- I agree; we don't need a list. Also, as Mel Etitis said, citations need to be found. There is enough unsourced material in this article as it is without adding more. Acalamari 18:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Asia Nitollano.
Does anybody have a source for her being the newest member of the Pussycat Dolls? The information about her is continually added, but no one is sourcing it? I've never watched Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll, so I don't know if she is the new member, and even if I had watched the program, my mind is not a source for Wikipedia. Can anyone verify the information? Acalamari 18:57, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Oops!
I'm from the UK and have been watching The Search For The Next Doll. I've just accidentally read that Asia was the winner - it was a spoiler for me cos on the UK showings there are still 5 potential Dolls! There should be a warning on the article. CC 91 08:59, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Carmit Bachar
Has anyone edited this page about Carmit? I noticed that there are slips in there about her being a man half way through a sex change. That is unwarranted and inappropriate. - First, you're simply wrong about other pages; how many have you looked at?
Secopndly, it's in any case irrelevant how many other pages get it wrong; the use of commas, lower-case letters, etc., is both MoS and WikiProject style. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 16:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- JJH1992, I have given you links to Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians and Template:Infobox musical artist. Why do you continue to take the page out of the WikiProject format? All because other infoboxes are wrong is not a reason to change it; the only reason other band infoboxes are wrong is because no one has corrected them yet. Acalamari 18:00, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Fever" Suggestion
In the live covers section it attributes the song "Fever" to Peggy Lee. The song, though a staple of Lee's career, was originally composed by Otis Blackwell. It initially was recorded by Little Willie John, and only later became one of Lee's hits (after she added more lyrics). So this is a cover of a cover, and perhaps should be credited to another person.
Roosellclause 05:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
The link in this article goes to "Fever (1956 song)" which cites both Blackwell and John. Peggy Lee's version was the "crossover" hit that turned the song into a standard. The Dolls' version is closer in arrangement to Lee's than John's. So, I think the current wording in this article is sufficient.--Design 09:32, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fanmade Picture in the Infobox
Would someone please remove this fanmade picture from the infobox. That's definitely fake because
1. the dolls don't call themselves "The Pussycat Dolls" anymore, they dropped the "the" since "I Don't Need a Man"
2. the "The Pusscat Dolls" line is identical with the line on the cover of PCD
3. this "Double the Trouble" line looks so selfmade
4. where's Asia? I thought she's part of the group so why isn't she on this photo from "June 2007"?

[edit] Kimberly Wyatt: Singer, Dancer, or Both?
Kimberly Wyatt's wiki-page states that she is nothing more than a dancer. Despite the fact that she does sing along with the other dolls in their live performances, albeit a very small vocal role. She is one of the most powerful dancers on the group, and arguably the most flexible but should we cut her short and underestimate her abilities? I believe that we should make Kimberly Wyatt's page say that she is both a dancer and a singer. It has also been noted that she will have a more prominent vocal role in the upcoming album. Also on her page it lists her "song genre" as Pop and R&B. Also in several of her interviews she states that she is both a dancer and singer.
And her page also gives the least detail, among the other members of the Pussycat Dolls, of her life. It doesn't mention her role in the dolls or her life as a doll. It also doesn't mention her role in the Starsky and Hutch movie. I believe that, seeing Nicole, Jessica, Melody, Carmit, and Ashley's pages are so detailed that we should improve Kimberly's page to be much longer and more detailed as well as try and find more links about Kimberly Wyatt and try finding some clues as to her vocal ability and her dancing ability.

[edit] SPLIT!
I've split the page into the music group and the burlesque troup JJH1992 23:59, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Individual members' pages
The infoboxes on each of the Dolls' individual articles says they each recorded for Cheyenne/Polydor or Polydor 2001-2002. Is this an error copied from Nicole Scherzinger's infobox? As far as I am aware only Scherzinger had a label at this time, via Eden's Crush. --Design 00:53, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] La la la
The article is still not being frank about the fact that Nicole Schrzwhatever does most (more than 95%) of all the vocals (at least on the 1st album, and I would assume that the mics are off in the live shows as well). Hello? We're talking about a singing and dancing group that's really one girl singing and dancing and the rest just dancing, don't you think that should be mentioned somewhere? 88.112.6.32 11:14, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Melody and Carmit both have active vocal roles, and the dolls management would have us believe the other three sing. Untill a formal announcment is made stating Nicole is the only active vocalist, we will leave it as it is.

[edit] Best Friend?
Right under the headline "The Pussycat Dolls", the last line says "my best friend is ruth adu-baohen". That needs to be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.175.203.119 (talk) 16:10, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- It was vandalism; I have reverted it. Acalamari 16:16, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

It's The Pussycat Dolls, not Pussycat Dolls. Check the cover of PCD (album)! Tcatron565 00:48, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Stupid request
I want to request citation for the fact that The Pussycat Dolls are an American band. It seems stupid but I think the citation would improve the article quality. --KushalClick me! write to me 03:08, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Black Eyed Peas
I'd just like to know why are the Black Eyed Peas under associated acts? LPMA (talk) 22:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Reduce discography
I think the discography in this article is unecessarily detailed, and duplicates the information found at Pussycat Dolls discography. It should be reduced to more basci information. Any consensus on this?--Design (talk) 22:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I would support this change: the discography section here already links to the main article. I don't see why it's necessary to have the same information on two pages, especially when it's more detalied on one of them. Acalamari 22:25, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
