[edit] Wikipedia Rant
I fancy myself a fan fiction historian. My current web project can be found at FanHistory.Com. I gave up on Wikipedia in terms of fan fiction related information contributions as a result of the deletion of the article on Diane Marchant. The reason for the deletion was that she was not signifigant. To me, as a fan historian, this is utter crap. Sorry. She kick started the slash movement. You don't have that with out her and just because the fan fiction community does not know this does not mean her contributions are not signifigant. The definitions of fan fiction are so broad as to include all of fictional literature. The definition of Mary Sue is similarly broad and ignores the historical usage of the word. Even citing sources to explain the history of the term and citing other sources to give a history of the term led to article edits by others which absented out quality information in favor of an inaccurate history and inaccurate usage.
