Pure in Heart is a 167-episode South Korean television drama/romantic comedy broadcast by KBS from 2006 to early 2007. The drama won many awards at 2006 KBS Drama Acting Awards.

[edit] Synopsis
Yang Gukhwa is a nineteen-year-old country girl who leaves Yanbian and travels to Seoul because she is marrying Hong Soon Goo, the third son in an average but respectable family. When she arrives in Seoul, however, she finds out that her fiance has just died in a terrible car accident. Instead of returning to Yanbian, she decides to stay and create a new life in Korea while sending money back to her aunt and uncle. While she lives in Korea, she is taken in as a family member by Soon Goo's family. Woo Gyeong, the son of Soon Goo's oldest brother Moon Goo, especially cares for her like his own sister. Woo Gyeong works in the marketing department of UT, a huge telecommunications company. His former classmate Park Yoon Hu, the son of UT's CEO, also works in the marketing department, in a higher position. Yoon Hu's spoiled younger sister Yoon Jeong attends college. The oldest child, Yoon Ji, is estranged from the family due to her marriage to a poor car salesman.
[edit] Yoon Hu and Guk Hwa Story
There are various different stories that go on at the same time. The main story is the story between Gukhwa and Yoon Hu and how they fell in love. At first, Gukhwa and Yoon Hu hated each other but when Gukhwa gets the job as a secretary Yoon Hu suddenly feels close to her. How she makes him laugh and how dumb she can be. He gives her the nickname "farm girl" because she acts low-close. However, Shin Hyung, Yoon Hu's friend for a long time, she feels uncomfortable to see the fact that Yoon Hu is getting closer with Guk Hwa. Also, Shin Hyung feels insecure and uncomfortable as the wedding is coming closer. Yoon Hu's father is trying to send Yoon Hu to Singapore with Shin Hyung, in order to get him back on the shape. On Ep. 75 he tells her how he feels. at first she thinks he's drunk and does not accept his feelings. but after Gukhwa learns that Yoon Hu is going to Singapore she realizes she does have feelings for Yoon Hu. and he asks her if she says he should stay he will stay. Gukhwa does not answer. then when Yoon Hu is at the airport on his way to Singapore in Ep.85 Gukhwa constantly thinks if she should stay or go. she finally makes up her mind and runs to the airport. this actually shows that she really cares for him. Yoon Hu then decides to call her but she does not pick up. she eventually does not make it because she thinks she's going crazy for running to the airport. she then decides to call Yoon Hu. Yoon Hu decided not to go to Singapore and leaves the family, even giving up his credit cards and car. In episode 89, Yoon Hu yells at Gukhwa, saying that “I left my house to show my truth about you. Can't you be more honest and give me a courage? Now, you are the only one left for me!” Despite the objections from the world, Yoon Hu keeps on dating with Gukhwa. However, Shin Hyung is now dreaming of taking a revenge on Guk Hwa, in order to get back Yoon Hu. Yoon Hu gets rejected by many corporations for dating with Gukhwa, pressured by his father, Chairman Park. Guk Hwa learns that Yoon Hu is having a hard time and decided to leave him. Shin Hyung realized that Gukhwa risked everything in order to get Yoon Hu back to the shape and abandoned her desires of taking an avenge on her and getting Yoon Hu back to her. Woo Gyeong scolded Guk Hwa, emphasizing the fact that exhibition is extremely important for Yoon Hu, corporations, and furthermore for her. Also, he tells Guk Hwa to be more brave and bold. Yoon Hu takes Gukhwa to the business trip in Jeju Island, for the exhibition. Gukhwa's role was a Chinese translator. Chairman Park discovered Gukhwa and Yoon Hu in Jeju Island, rediscovered his son and her. Yoon Hu returned to UT as a planning manager in the marketing department, Gukhwa as his secretary. Yoon Hu decided to make Gukhwa more sophisticated and send her to the academy for her college entrance examination preparation. However, Soo Jung, Yoon Hu's ex-girlfriend returns to Korea as a divorcee with her son in the previous marriage. Soo Jung asks Yoon Hu's mother what is she going to do if her son is Yoon Hu's child. Yoon Hu was surprised, Guk Hwa came to know about Soo Jung's identity. Their relationship is at peril, concerning Chairman Park. After everyone came to know that Soo Jung lied, Yoon Hu feels sorry for Guk Hwa, proposes her marriage. Guk Hwa accepts Yoon Hu's proposal. Also, Guk Hwa persuaded Yoon Hu to return his home, stressing the point that they behaved rashly and he agreed. However, Yoon Hu's mother still opposes it. On the other hand, Chairman Park decided to trust Yoon Hu's decision, Yoon Ji and Gwang Man backed him up. Guk Hwa gains love from Chairman Park, Yoon Ji, and Gwang Man with her modesty and tenderheartedness. A year later, Guk Hwa got pregnant, passed the college entrance examination. The ending scene was Yoon Hu and Guk Hwa on the cruise ship on the Han River, celebrating for her examination pass.
[edit] Woo Gyeong and Yoon Jung Story
At first, Woo Gyeong and Yoon Jeong meet funeral of Gukhwa's fiance. This does not start any relationship. Later, Yoon Jeong (being a bad driver) hits Woo Gyeong's car and claims that Woo Gyeong was at fault. Woo Gyeong continues to try to avoid her, but Yoon Jeong chases him. Even though Woo Gyeong tells her he is not interested, but she chases him still. Eventually Yoon Jeong says that she wont chase him anymore and she will stop wasting her time. Woo Gyeong then starts to miss her presence all around, so he begins to chase her. In episode 95, Woo Gyeong begs Yoon Jeong not to go to the dating with Jin Soo and she came back to him. This eventually starts their relationship. When Yoon Jeong's mother finds out, she refuses saying that Woo Gyeong has a poor background and family. However, Chairman Park, who is Yoon Jeong's father allows the marriage, claiming that Woo Gyeong is too much for her. As the story goes, Yoon Jeong's mother doesn't let Yoon Jeong go out after she was greatly embarrassed in the public place by her and Woo Gyeong. Woo Gyeong goes to Yoon Jeong's house, firmly saying that he doesn't want Yoon Jeong to go to anymore dating. Yoon Jeong then asks her older sister Yoon Ji what she did so that she could get their mother to let the older sister to marry. The Older sister then told Yoon Jeong that she faked her own pregnancy. Yoon Jeong then fakes her own pregnancy to her mother and her mother believes it. When she fakes it, her mother says that Woo Gyeong and Yoon Jeong must be married quickly since sex before marriage is very bad in Korea. Woo Gyeong and Yoon Jeong set a date and when her mother tells Woo Gyeong that, he gets extremely angry. So does her mother. Yoon Jeong begs Woo Gyeong and her mother for her dishonesty. When Woo Gyeong and Yoon Jeong get married, they go on a honeymoon/business trip because exhibition and honeymoon happened to be at the same time. Later in the story, you find out that Yoon Jeong actually got pregnant from Woo Gyeong after their honeymoon. A recurring joke at this time is Yoon Jeong asking for something from Woo Gyeong, he is going out to get it, and then she is telling him that she wants something else instead. A little later in the story, you also find out that Yoon Jeong is actually going to have twins. In the final episode, you see the twins born after the time lapse. Later in the part, when Mr. Hong, the grandfather collapses, Woo Gyeong decided to inherit his grandfather's tailor shop. Also, inheriting his grandfather's tailor shop was what he truly wanted to do. Woo Gyeong's mother opposes his plan, reminding the fact from 10 years ago. However, Woo Gyeong pursues his plan, with his new business ideas. A year later, Woo Gyeong's tailor shop became famous nationwide, earned his fame as a great tailor. Woo Gyeong earned a lot of money, however, maintains his original personality. Yoon Jeong became a mother of a boy and girl twin, still maintaining her bright characteristics.

- Koo Hye Sun as Yang Guk Hwa: Bold, brave-hearted, clever girl. Eventually attracts Yoon Hu, then his family members with her tender heartedness and modesty. Marries Yoon Hu on the episode 160. Towards the end, she becomes pregnant and passes the university entrance examination.
- Suh Ji Suk as Park Yoon Hu: Smart and attractive, however, cold and strict. His cold personality has earned him the nick name "Ice Man" among his co-workers. His personality takes a change as he develops his relationship with Guk Hwa and eventually, falling in love with her.
- Lee Min Woo as Hong Woo Gyeong: Smart and principled person. He inherited his grandfather's tailor shop, and made it famous throughout Korea. He eventually falls in love with Yoon Jeong and marries her.
- Lee Yoon Ji as Park Yoon Jeong (Yunhu’s younger sister): Flippant, trouble-maker, selfish, thoughtless. Obsessed with jewels and shopping. However, she is tenderhearted. Became brighter and maturer after getting married to Woo Gyeong.
- Choo So Young as Kang Shin Hyung: Yoon Hu and Woo Gyeong's friend. Her family is a family friend of Yoon Hu's. Her parents are deceased, well-known doctors. Her brother is a surgeon.
- Jo Jung Rin as Hong Woo Sook (Woo Gyeong's younger sister): Develops her relationship with Shin Hyung's brother.
- Kang Nam Gil as Hong Moon Goo (Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's father): Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's father. Tenderhearted and understanding person.
- Kim Mi Kyung as Kim Ok Geum (Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's mother): Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's mother. Tenderhearted and understanding, however, once she explodes, nobody can stop her.
- Shin Goo as Mr. Hong Bok Nam (Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's grandfather, patriarch of the Hong family): Grandfather of the Hong's family. Young-minded person, tenderhearted with romantic characteristic. Encourages and advises Woo Gyeong, Yoon Jeong, Yoon Hu, and Guk Hwa at the hard times, based on his experience and feelings. Good at making people feel impressed by his speeches or actions.
- Lee Hye Sook as Choi Hye Sook (Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's grandmother): Grandmother of the Hong's family. Eventually, she is Ok Geum's high school friend. She is good at ticking off Ok Geum's temper and making people surprised.
- Kang Seok Woo as Hong Poong Goo (Woo Gyeong and Woo Sook's uncle): Singer. Develops his relationship with Pal Ja.
- Cho Mi Ryung as Na Pal Ja: obsessed with Poong Goo. Own the flower shop.
- Lee Han We as Ko Dal Soo: Mr. Hong's assistant.
- Yoon Yoo Sun as Park Yoon Ji (Yoon Hu's elder sister): The eldest of the siblings, estranged from the family due to marriage with Gwang Man. At first, opposes Gwang Man's plan to become a cook, however, supports him later.
- Ahn Jung Hoon as Ko Gwang Man (Yoon Ji's husband): Turned himself from a poor car salesman as a great cook, inherited Myeong Hye's cooking academy. Discovered his talents and interests in cooking.
- Yoon Yeo Jung as Yoon Myeong Hye (Yoon Hu's mother): Hypocritical person. Opposes the marriage of her children. However, her personality eventually changed after meeting Woo Gyeong and Guk Hwa.
- Han Jin Hee as Chairman Park Dong Gook (Yoon Hu’s father): Strict and principled person. Doesn't like Myeong Hye's hypocritical characteristic.
- Ko Eun Mi as Soo Jung (Yoon Hu's ex-girlfriend): Yoon Hu's ex-girlfriend. Puts Yoon Hu and Guk Hwa's relationship at peril.
