Pure Software

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pure Software was founded in October 1991 by Reed Hastings, who later founded Netflix and continues to serve as Netflix's CEO. It was originally designed solely around a debugging tool for engineers called Purify. After consistently doubling its revenue every year for four years, Pure Software went public with the help of Morgan Stanley in August 1995.[1][2] In August 1996, Pure Software merged with Atria to form Pure Atria Corporation.[3] Later in August 1997, Rational Software acquired Pure Atria for $750 million, giving Hastings the capital to start Netflix.[4]
