From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pulzar FM is a radio station based in Christchurch, New Zealand. It broadcast on 88.7fm (and several other frequencies) in Christchurch from 1999 until November 2007.

Pulzar FM plays many different genres of dance & electronic music, including house, breaks, trance, hard dance, euro, drum and bass, electro, indie electronica, and more.

The station was founded by Andy Poulsen (better known as DJ Andy Pulzar) and Jason Akehurst in October 1999.[1]

At its peak there were 8 full time staff and over 30 volunteers announcers and DJ's working for the company.

Since 2006, Pulzar FM has broadcast a number of high profile shows by international performers such as Matt Darey, Agnelli & Nelson and Solarstone.[2]

As one of the higher profile low power radio stations in Christchurch Pulzar FM gained a reasonable following among students and young people.

Since November 2007 the station has been off-air, but an internet only presence is likely to be relaunched in the near future.
