Pukhrayan is located at 26.23° N 79.85° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 124 metres (406 feet). It is 22 km from Mati.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Pukhrayan had a population of 19,908. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Pukhrayan has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 62%. In Pukhrayan, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
