[edit] Recent addition of material that appears Hinduism-specific
A new anon user recently added (21:18, 26 April 2008) the following material to the section on "Bows":
- These puja's are celebrated to bless the person who is having the puja and the place that they're having it at. Also the people who attened will be blessed. puja's are also juhndies(jun-dees). Juhndies bless the person who is having it. Also, juhndies can last a few hours or a few minutes. the longest amount of time that juhndie is would be 5-6 hours. These juhndies are also at mundere(mun deer). Mundere is hindu church where hindu's sit on the floor ,ontop of blankets, we pray to the gods below them. this way we will be truly blessed.
And, in the section on "Offerings":
- Hindu's will bring their offerings to a nearby beach to give the gods and godesses. Offreing is a great way of showing care for the gods.
I am impressed by the earnestness apparent in this contribution. I think though that it is not pertinent to Buddhism but to Hinduism and thus should be removed this article, Puja (Buddhism). (I'll post a query to the Puja page, which explores the Hindu context for these practices to see if anyone there could assess this material.) If I err or if there is an overriding reason for why this material should be retained here, I'd be grateful if someone would educate me on this. Otherwise, I plan to remove the aforementioned material in the next few days. With metta,

- It's been nearly a week and no one has provided any information either here or at Talk:Puja suggesting that the aforementioned material is anything but Hindu-specific. Therefore, I will delete it momentarily.
- Perhaps if Hindu-specific information is again added to this article then it might be worth considering a dab line at the top (as is done at Puja) indicating that this is an article on Buddhist practices and that a comparable one on Hindu practices can be found at Puja; as it is, I would hope that this article's title (Puja (Buddhism)), opening sentence ("In Buddhism....") and top-righthand template ("Lay Buddhist Practices") would sufficiently signal this article's scope to the reader and any future editor.
- And, of course, if anyone disagrees with this revert then, in accord with WP:CONSENSUS, please discuss the matter further here first. Thanks, Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 04:33, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
