[edit] Discussion

This article is incomplete. Judo was a sport not included in this article; however, Puerto Rico took four Judokas to the Sydney Olympics. Carlos Santiago in 90 Kg, Jose Figueroa in 81 Kg, Carlos Alberto Mendez, 73 Kg, and Melvin Mendez 66 Kg were the only Judokas qualified to the Sydney Olympics. The brothers Mendez are the most decorated judokas in the history of Judo in Puerto Rico. Melvin Mendez has been a member of three different Olympic teams, and numerous Pan-American and Centro-American Games. His brother, Carlos Alberto Mendez, was one of the few athletes with a realistic medal contention in the Puerto Rican team. Carlos Mendez was the first judoka of Puerto Rican origin who has won two US senior nationals in an Olympic competitive weight.
