Puerto Rico Highway 102

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Puerto Rico Highway 102 is a main highway in the southwest of Puerto Rico, beginning in PR-2 in Mayagüez and ending again in PR-2 in Sabana Grande.

[edit] Divided Highway

PR-102 is a small rural segment in Mayagüez after its start point and becomes divided after intersecting PR-64. It goes parallel to the coastline for about 6 kilometers before becoming rural again. From the divided segment, people can access two of Mayagüez's main streets: Méndez Vigo and McKinley; Nenadich and William Dunscombe (PR-63).

[edit] Rural

PR-102 becomes rural and keeps that way for the rest of its length. It goes along the west coastline, exactly in the coast, and enters through a small hill when entering Cabo Rojo. PR-102 is the only highway that connects Mayagüez to Cabo Rojo, as other highways, like PR-2, pass directly to Hormigueros.

After the small hill it goes back again along the coast line and passes through Joyuda, and several seafood restaurants- famous in the entire island for lobsters, fish, shrimps and others- can be found along the road. Several hotels and beaches can also be accessed. After Joyuda, it begins turning eastward and meets PR-100, and goes through downtown Cabo Rojo. After that it enters San Germán and enters downtown of that city. It continues eastward as it enters Sabana Grande, and meets its terminus into the freeway segment of PR-2.
