'Puch 500' was a small car produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in the city of Graz, Austria.
The launch of the Steyr-Puch 500, Fiat model(1957) was a hit.
For cost reasons, it was on a separate body and has a manufacturing BIW Fiat 500.
The convertible variant of this model was anticipated as a draw from motorcyclists as a buying audience.
The Puch version of this vehicle was developed with a Flat engine with about 16 PS (12 kW/16 bhp) brought the time for a good driving behaviour, especially in mountain rides. In addition, it was more favorable than the in-line engine used by Fiat.
From rationalization came reasons beyond 1969 from the whole technology of gear including Fiat and only the engine of Puch. From 1973 was still a short time instead of the Fiat 500 successor Fiat 126 with boxer engines.
The sale of the small car ran very successfully, with around 60,000 units being produced during the years 1957-1975 despite licensing clauses from Fiat also many outside of Austria finished most to Germany, only one piece went to Japan, Guatemala and in the United States.
