Talk:Public health informatics

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please don't merge this yet. I think I'm going to try my hand later this week at writing an actual article rather than a stub for this. The Health Informatics article itself is also very sketchy, so it's really not such a good idea to merge a bunch of topics into it without expanding that because it means they will barely get defined in Wikipedia. [edit] Merge with Health informatics?

See discussion at Talk:Health informatics#Merge public health informatics here? — Donama 05:03, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Given the major change to the page which I discuss below, I think the article stands on its own now, and should not be merged with Health Informatics. Besides, the last expression of interest in merging is 16 months old. — Pojoman 02:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Major Change to the page

There were two paragraphs added recently which, although interesting, were actually off-topic. They dealt with aspects of health care data available to the public on the internet. Public health informatics is something quite different. Other than those two paragraphs, there were only one or two sentences in the article, something which I and I am sure other professional public health informaticists feel is quite insufficient.

My initial attempt is pretty much off the top of my head, reflecting my own experience in public health informatics at a state public health department. It is just a beginning. But I feel it improves the article 1000%. Please help expand it! — Pojoman 02:17, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
