Public Account was a weekly politically-themed radio program started in 1976 and transmitted by BBC only in Scotland. It ran on weeknights from 10:45 to 11:25 PM, local time.[1] It was designed to reflect the increased interest in politics in Scotland leading up to the first Devolution Referendum held by the Callaghan government. Ground-breaking in its approach to politics, it was presented by Donald MacCormick, James Cox, and Andrew Neil. Tom Ross was the producer and Matthew Spicer was the editor.[citation needed]
Margaret Thatcher appeared on the program on January 9, 1978.[citation needed]
