PTMC

PTMC (Post Terran Minerals Corporation, also Post-Terran Mining Corporation) is a fictitious mega-corporation from the Descent game series. PTMC was originally an acronym for Post Terran Minerals Corporation, but after the Descent franchise was transferred to Outrage Entertainment -- an off-shoot from Parallax Software, the original creators of the series -- PTMC was also the acronym for Post-Terran Mining Corporation. This might have been a backronym created to differentiate the fictitious corporation from the previous games in the series.

In the fictitious Descent universe, PTMC is run by a figure known as Suzuki up until midway through Descent 3. The "Crisis Contingency" branch is run by Samuel Dravis. In fact, in the first two installments of the series, Dravis' first name was not known, or even mentioned. In the third installment -- when the acronym for PTMC was re-defined -- Dravis' first name was mentioned; Samuel.
