Psycle is a program to make music on PC computers. Based on the layout of old tracker software (the vertical timeline sequencer) but featuring up-to-date features like VST compatibility and 96Khz / 32bit wav rendering, Psycle is a complete music production solution.
Psycle is an open source program, and was released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The Psycledelics website is the starting point of all things about Psycle, like development status, Q/A, current versions, source code and a discussion board.

Psycle is a creation of Juan Antonio Arguelles (Arguru), who started the development of the program in May 2000 and was its developer until version 1.0. From then until now, Psycle had various developers, and now the main coder is JosephMa (aka [JAZ]). Concepted as a Jeskola Buzz clone, Psycle has been improved since the first version, and now is at version 1.8.5 RC2. A final release was planned for October 2007, but this was tragically abandoned when Arguru died in a car accident in the June of 2007. [1]
Its first focus was on machines: each pattern was linked to a machine, and the patterns were then arranged in the sequencer. After the first few alpha versions, Arguru changed Psycle into a more classical-style tracker, only keeping the Buzz-influenced Machine View. Each song position defined in the sequencer was linked to one pattern used to enter notes and data for all machines at the same time. This is how it has remained for all 1.x releases.
