Psycho Dad was a fictional show-within-a-show on the long-running sitcom Married... with Children. The show was constantly changing opening theme lyrics until it was cancelled by Marcy D'Arcy and her women's group in season 9 of Married... with Children. It once had the added disclaimer, "Now with less violence but more kinky sex and nudity for a cleaner and saner America." The show was regarded by Marcy as extremely violent as 84 people were killed in a one hour episode. Not surprisingly, it was Al Bundy's favorite show, and his daughter Kelly also seemed to enjoy it.
According to comments by Al and others, Psycho Dad was a Western action show focusing on a frontiersman with a family, that more or less took pleasure in maiming and injuring anyone that got on his bad side, including his own family.
Psycho Dad is played in the cancellation episode by Andrew Prine.
[edit] Theme Songs
As a Running gag the lyrics of Psycho Dad varied from episode to episode.
From episode [Al... with Kelly (501)]
Who's that riding into the sun.
Who's the man with the itchy gun.
Who's the man who kills for fun!
Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad!
He sleeps with a gun, but he loves his son.
Killed his wife 'cause she weighed a ton... Psycho Dad![1]
[edit] Psycho Mom
Psycho Mom was a show that was featured only once on the show, it subsequently became Peggy's favorite show and then was replaced by 'The New Adventures of Psycho Dad.' According to an in-episode commercial, the show aired on the Fox Network.
