[edit] Diapers

The correct name for that shape which is like two equilateral traingles is a "diaper". It is an heraldic term. Although the word "diamond" is often used, it isn't correct, but it has probably come about because in heraldry a diaper was sometimes used to represent a jewel.

The development of diaper windows was in part due to the fact that three regular diamond-shaped panes could be conveniently cut from a piece of Crown glass, with minimum waste and with minimum distortion.
I like this wording. can you fix it? I'm in the middle of something! ...Amandajm (talk) 11:38, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
You're perfectly correct in your use of the term. Apparently it means a type of cloth with that sort of pattern in its weave, which was used for babies' napkins (as well as other things.) ;-)...Amandajm (talk) 13:21, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Spud! Now what about getting yourself a user page? All you need to do is click on your own nname, and you'll find an unmade one waiting for you! Cheers! Amandajm (talk) 08:58, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Is that pronounced the same as "spewed" or differently? A spud is a potato... boring, I know, but relatively harmless! We used to have a dog called Spud. The name didn't suit him at all. He ought to have been called Rover. (defintitely not Fido) He was a very handsome black retriever. He liked cars rather a lot, but we didn't own one. Last time I saw Spud, he was sitting in the front seat of a Mercedes Benz, with one paw on the window rim, his tongue waving, his ears blowing in the wind and a great grin all over his deceitful, home-and-family deserting face. His was on his way down the Great Western Highway and into the Big Bad City. We never saw him again! Amandajm (talk) 08:29, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Distilled?!

Did you really mean to say that malt liquor is distilled?!? Around here, malt liquor is just beer. It's not distilled. I'm unable to find any references to distilled beverages that are called "malt liquor". Friday (talk) 16:54, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blacksmithing+hair answer

Thanks for your feedback Psud. I often go out on a limb with my answers, so some are way off the mark, and others score a hit. So take my responses with care, and see if others have comments on my comments! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Could it be that you are from Canberra? (like me). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

It wasn't me in '95. However we should invite you to the next Canberra wikipedia reunion! And you can set up your user page with a special template to say that also. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:08, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
