Talk:Psusennes I
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
How is Psusennes II distinguished from Psusennes I in Manetho's epitome? Where there is Psusennes III, a person also given an independent reign??
What is the precise text of "associated names" of Psusennes "II" and his "successor", Shoshenq I in a graffito from tomb TT18(see A. Dodson,,"Psusennes II and Shoshenq I," JEA 79(1993), pp.267-268, and in an ostracon from Um el-Qaab(see J. Yoyotte, BSSFT 1(1988) 46 n.2.)???
What other thing than just the conventional chronology places Psusennes I's death to a time almost 40-45 years before Shoshenq I]'s appearance as Chief of the Ma???
What confirms that the second ruler intended to be mentioned on a well known Mummy bandage which equates "[Year X] of Amenemopet to Year 49 [of Psusennes I." is Psusennes and not another person altogether?? (unsigned comments by Shilkanni)
[edit] Cartouche
Psusennes I Nomen in hieroglyphs |

I updated his Nomen cartouche from the "Gold Disk" from Psusennes I tomb at Tanis, now in Egyptian Museum, Cairo. Gold disc is 16.6 cm, and was used to close the incision on the stomach. It bears the Eye of Horus, as a sign of "intactness", (Wholeness). (I do not know the significance of the twisted cord hieroglyph above the hieroglyph for town, intersection.) [ The Budge 2-volume dictionary implies it is the symbol related to the word "āntch" (long a)(= sound, healthy), and beneath the similar hieroglyph for goddess Neith ]. (The symbol for "N",wavy line does not work in the Cartouche(below star and above town) in Wiki; I originally had tried it. )(It does work here.)
