The Psoroptidia are a suborder of the Acarina (mite) order Astigmata. They contain many of the more notorious parasitic members of that group. Three of the superfamilies in this clade are among those Acarina collectively called feather mites, whereas the fourth - Sarcoptoidea - contains ear mites and scabies mites among others.
