[edit] Signature oddity

Hi, there! I noticed your comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Schnoobalubin' and have been wondering about your signature. You link to the mainspace page Psinu instead of to User:Psinu. I'm just wondering if that's intentional. If you're using it for the font color, you can make a normal userpage link and wrap it between <span style="color: #ba0000;"> and </span>. I just thought I'd ask. I have a curiosity about things like signatures. Cheers! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 04:23, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Ack! No, it's yet another screwup by me. Thanks for picking it up. soon to be changed sig :) ---> Psinualways forgetsto sign 17:08, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
P.S. What is the correct way to respond to an inquiry like yours anyway? On my talk page? On yours? I still haven't figured that out...
Here's the new (and hopefully correct) look and function: ΨνPsinu 18:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
By way of answering your question, I've copied all response text you posted on my talk page to here. Some users have different preferences, but I prefer to keep discussions in one place. I have seen talk pages go in multiple directions: Some users like to respond to questions on the other user's talk page, and others (like me) prefer to keep all responses together. I will mention that the keep-it-all-together view is the one I have seen the most, but it's really up to you.
Given your confusion, I'll probably spend a little time clearing up my response instructions, or perhaps I'll just copy from one of the user talk header templates I've seen lying around. ;) There's no clearer text than wiki template text, I've noticed. :D If you have any feedback on that, feel free to respond, keeping this conversation together (that's my preference, of course).
Your new sig looks good, by the way. Good job! I might suggest converting the underscore in your user talk link to a space, simply because it'll make it easier in the edit window, but that's just my preference; some users don't mind a horizontal scroll bar. Cheers! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 21:06, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Warning users

Thanks for helping clean up vandalism to Wikipedia! When you warn users, you should always "subst" the warning template - this helps keep the load on our servers down. You should also sign your warnings, as you would any other comment on a user talk page. For example, a warning for vandalism might look like this:

{{subst:uw-vandalism2}} ~~~~

[edit] Topless Sun Tanning

Just a friendly heads up. I removed your speedy deletion tag on the Topless Sun Tanning article. You added a {{db-nonsense}} tag, but I just can't see how this article meets the definition of Wikipedia:Patent nonsense. Feel free to prod or take this article to AfD if it needs to go. --Fabrictramp (talk) 20:57, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

  • (shrug) OK - no problem. "Nonsense" was the best rationale I could come up with. It just seemed like someone was putting it in for shock value; at that time, the picture was MUCH bigger (which has been fixed) and there was very little content/context (which has not). Your call on the SD tag was probably correct, so let's let it ride and see what others think. Thanks... ΨνPsinu 21:06, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Streatham and Clapham High School

Thank you for reporting the ongoing vandalism there. I have put in a request for a sockpuppet check about this Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mary170, and the puppets have been blocked. That hopefully should stop the pattern of weirdness at that article. If something similar pops up there in the near future, please feel free to add it to the suspected sockpuppets list, or contact me about it. SkierRMH (talk) 19:02, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks - I will continue to keep an eye on it. I don't know why I get irritated to the point of distraction by this kind of crap, but I do :) ΨνPsinu 14:09, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tom Brady

Thank you for removing the vandalism about the Patriots cheating. I don't know when this kid will realize that it does not belong there! Thanks again! America69 (talk) 14:14, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

  • No problem. I suspect it's gonna continue until the Pats lose a couple in a row. It'll be a long couple of years :) Thanks ΨνPsinu 15:01, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Good job, Dk. To ensure the long-term survival of the Alter Ego article, your best bet is to include some of the material from the links into the article itself, then add them as references. That way, people don't see only a myspace page as a reference. You've obviously got something there, so I'd encourage you to work with it!
On Jetpetz, it looks like someone else made the call to delete the page. But from the info you've given, it looks like it's just a case of being too early to put the material into Wikipedia. Once the album is in full release and has had some reviews and a chart track record, you probably will be successful in trying again. However, keep in mind again that you should write it with the same sort of external references you've identified as an integral part of the article. Unfortunately, too many people try to game the system with self-serving entries that only reference their own sites (myspace, youtube, etc.), so potentially good articles get thrown out with the bad. Your best defense is good source material and good references.
In any case, good luck, and thanks for a most constructive response!! ΨνPsinu 14:38, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chisti page

I would support an AFD here as the best way to resolve this. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 13:58, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure whether an AFD is worthwhile. It seems the IP (as you say, most probably the creator of the page) removed the speedy deletion tag, which hasn't been reinstated, so technically the page should be under that. Just add back the {{db-bio}} to the page, I'm sure the deleting administrator will review the page history and be able to judge the COI or anything else correctly. Thank you for contacting me over this matter. Regards, Rt. 14:32, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
OK, I'll try it one more time. Hopefully this time it will stick long enough for someone to have a look. If not, I'll go the AfD route. I tend to get a bit tenacious when someone plays games with the system. (See the response directly above the Chisti material here for a stellar example of someone who, by contrast, worked with me in a constructive way!) Thanks again, ΨνPsinu 14:40, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Ah, and per this edit summary; I'm not an admin. :) Rt. 14:50, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
