PRVA BANKA CRNE GORE – OSNOVANA 1901.
On initiative of prominent people, rich traders and craftsmen of Nikšić vocationally supported by the famous financial expert Mr. Joco Petrović the constituent assembly of the First Nikšićka Savings Bank was held on January, 6th 1901. The assembly passed the Rules of the Savings Bank and selected the temporary management board. It was indeed the first banking institution in Montenegro as well as one of the first Montenegrin joint-stock companies.
In accordance with passed rules the objective of the savings bank was to develop and support national savings through promotion of country's trade and work under favourable loans. The initiative capital amounted to 200.000 crowns divided in 2.000 stocks.
The Rules of the First Nikšićka Savings Bank, signed by the president of the State Council Mr. Božo Petrović were reviewed, authorized and approved on May, 5th 1901 by His Royal Highness Nikola I Petrović, Montenegrin ruler. Therefore nowadays we have the honour of celebrating this date in Prva Banka Crne Gore - osnovana 1901 as the Bank's Day.
Within its 107 years long tradition the Bank underwent many rises, falls, work interruptions caused by war events but has always succeeded to rise to the occasion and meet challenges with the aim of being the first one in supporting regional as well as the development of Montenegro.
The Bank's working independence and recognition in the Montenegrin banking market becomes more and more prominent thanks to banking system reforms being successfully carried out, what recommends it also as a desirable partner in privatization procedures of the Montenegrin banking sector.
Therefore 2006 could be characterized as a specific year, even crucial in its development, within which significant recapitalization took place and the number of shareholders was increased. Sale of 30% of the government's block of shares finalized the privatization of the Bank which provided for the strategic partner with a clear future developmental vision.
At the same time, there were important organization changes. The very name Nikšićka Banka reminded of a local bank as a result of which it was replaced with the new one - Prva banka Crne Gore – osnovana 1901 (The First Bank of Montenegro – founded in 1901), with the aim of protecting long tradition and asserting its activities all around Montenegro as a recognizable domestic bank aspiring to actively participate in complete modern development of the Republic of Montenegro.
Prva Banka is today modern, market-oriented bank, focused on recognition of clients’ needs. It has been following world banking trends, observing “corporative responsible” business requirements. The Bank is equipped with a state-of-the-art technology, connecting skilful banking experts from one side and young, highly-educated people from the other, totaling 216 employees. It applies ISO 9001:2000 quality standards, having been given a certificate by BSI – British Standard Institution from London.
The Bank has financially supported most important Montenegrin companies engaged in metallurgy, mining, power supply, tourism, machine/electric industry, forestry etc.
Numerous small and medium-sized enterprises assert its business interests via cooperation with Prva Banka CG.
Thanks to fast and constant development the Bank is currently at the top of the biggest financial institutions in Montenegro, servicing more than 80.000 clients.
Within 2007 the total Bank’s capital increased by 11 million € amounting to 26.2 mil €. Profit made within 2007 amounts to around 4.2 mil € what is by 4.6 times higher than in 2006.
We have also expanded our branch network all around Montenegro thanks to results we’ve achieved so far and also envisaging modern market requirements.
