[edit] Background
To keep up with demand, PRS introduced a new low-end budget line in the late 1990s. The Student Edition line, is manufactured in Korea and is notable for opaque finishes and lower quality tone-woods though some models also include figured maple tops such as the Soapbar II. The PRS SE models are increasing in popularity among hobbyists, whereas the higher-end PRS models tend to be geared towards professional musicians. While the SEs do not match the higher end PRS guitars in their build quality, it is worth noting that their street price is perhaps 10–20% of PRS' high-end instruments, with some feeling that they offer excellent value to the player seeking an instrument in that price range. Furthermore, even though the range is suppose to be at the "lower end" of the PRS range, its quality is the same as the "standard range" of many other guitar manufacturers, and employs set-neck construction on all models, unlike many other budget brands which use bolt-on necks on their lower-end models.

[edit] PRS SE Custom
Genuine maple top with flamed maple veneer on a mahogany back plus a set wide, fat mahogany 22-fret neck produce the resonant sustain and high-end bite that made PRS famous. PRS-designed components in the SE Custom include dual bare zebra humbuckers, chrome tuners, and high-sustain wraparound stop tail or vibrato. Available in Sunburst & Gray Black finishes & in the UK a Blue Matteo version is also available.
[edit] PRS SE EG S/S/H and S/S/S
The SE EG S/S/H is a flat top mahogany guitar with a comfortable arm carve, a PRS designed tremolo, a pickguard with a humbucker and two single coil pickups, three-way pickup selector and volume and tone knobs. Great single coil tones bridge humbucker for a little extra bite. The SE EG also comes in a S/S/S configuration that is reminiscent of the Fender Stratocaster in layout. The S/S/S has three single coil pickups; the humbucker (dual-coil) of the S/S/H is replaced by the more traditional single coil for a brighter, less thick timbre.
[edit] PRS SE One
Introduced as an analogue to the Gibson Les Paul Junior, featuring a single P-90 pickup and single volume knob, on a single cutaway body featuring a pickguard (a rarity on a PRS).
[edit] PRS SE Singlecut
The PRS SE Single Cut features a bookmatched, heavily flamed maple veneer (on transparent-finish models) on a maple top and mahogany back. This produces great resonance with bold bottom end, enhanced by the wraparound stop tailpiece/bridge for direct transfer of string vibration. PRS-designed humbuckers turn the resonance into impressive sustain. Moon fretboard inlays and natural maple top binding are also featured.
[edit] PRS SE Soapbar II Maple
Similar to the SE Custom, a mahogany neck set into a carved mahogany body, and soapbar pickups produce a sustainful high-end tone. Wraparound stop tailpiece transfers string vibration directly into the PRS SE Soapbar's body for superb resonance.
[edit] PRS SE Standard
Supreme sustain comes from the PRS SE Standard's set neck, wraparound stop tailpiece (or tremolo), and PRS-designed open-coil humbuckers. Rosewood fretboard with moon inlays and silky matte finishes.
[edit] PRS Tremonti SE
The Tremonti SE was designed with Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge and features a solid mahogany body with plastic binding on the body, neck and headstock. Similar to the SE Single Cut, this guitar features two humbuckers with a three-way pickup selector on the upper bout and a volume and tone control for each pickup.
[edit] PRS SE Paul Allender Model
SE version of Paul Allender's signature guitar. Features custom purple and black "Allender Burst", gold hardware, and bat inlays.
