Wikipedia:Protected titles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

✘ This Wikipedia page has been superseded by MediaWiki's native protection of nonexistent pages (applied in the same manner as ordinary protection, also see Special:Protectedtitles) and the title blacklist MediaWiki extension, and it is retained primarily for historical interest.

Template:Deletedpage links as a result of this TfD discussion.

This page is about protecting nonexistent pages against creation.

Wikipedia welcomes new encyclopedia articles.
Sometimes, however, we have debated a subject and decided that it currently does not merit inclusion in Wikipedia. Pages listed here have been created and deleted multiple times. If you wish to create an article at one of these titles and have reliable sources on which to base it, you are invited to ask at Wikipedia:Deletion review.

The old protected title system has been deprecated. These pages are maintained as static lists in order to allow them to be found via Special:Whatlinkshere when trying to track down when/why a protected nonexistent page was originally protected.

Divided by month

The current month's list can be accessed (and created if necessary) at Wikipedia:Protected titles/Current month.

    • Use {{Protected title}}, with the parameters {{protected title|pg=pagename|reason=reason|ns=namespace|talk=yes/no|commons=yes/no}}. Only the first parameter is required. For more information on using this template, see Template talk:Protected title.
    • For images or categories, you MUST use the namespace parameter as well, or the protection will fail. This is because images and categories are linked to in a nonstandard way ([[:Image)
