Vice: Project Doom is a Nintendo game with elements similar to Spy Hunter, Ninja Gaiden and Operation Wolf. It has driving, fighting, first-person shooting and cinematic sequences when passed levels. The character has the ability to switch between three different weapons.

The weapons available are:

  • Laser Whip (platform mode)
  • .44 Magnum (platform and first person shooting mode)
  • Hand Grenade (platform and first person shooting mode)

Like Ninja Gaiden, Vice: Project Doom allows infinite continues, but all the player's points are missed in each continue given.

In Japan, the game was released with a different name: Gun-Dec.

[edit] Possible Release on Virtual Console

IGN Wii editor Mark Bozon has been attempting to get this game on the VC. At the end of his February 18th blog post is an update of how the attempts are going:

Vice Project Doom Update: Just wanted to throw this out there. I’m in talks with Sammy to get the game pushed onto Virtual Console. The company (now absorbed by SEGA) doesn’t even remember the game, so they’re spending this next week tracking down the license and they’re going to get back to me. In the meantime, I’ve chatted with the top guys at Nintendo’s VC development HQ, just to make sure they know the game. We’ll get it on the VC guys… if titles like this don’t make it on, the VC isn’t doing its job. There are tons of classics out there that people don’t know, and the VC is the perfect chance to give those games new life.[1]

The IGN Nintendo Team Editor Mark Bozon has updated his blog on Monday 9th April 2007 with more details on his attempts to bring this game to the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console:

Oh, and for a quick Vice Project Doom update: There’s no current plans to bring it to Virtual Console, but I have sent along what info I have to the guys at Nintendo, and they’re putting it on the hitlist of games to consider. Who knows if anything will come of it, but it’s worth a shot. I’ll keep bugging them, as we NEED that game on Virtual Console. With the way sales are going so far though, it’s just a matter of time before the $$$ start “encouraging” more publishers to get on board. SEGA… Sammy (R.I.P.)… can we PLEASE make this happen?[2]
