[edit] Spain
Hi Provocateur. Unfortunatelly I was using the wrong place to archive my talk. Now that I archived again, I have used the right space in my talk. In the process, I have only now noted you left me a message in one of my archived-in-the-wrong-place pages. Since I didnt have them in my watchlist, I didnt see it. Anyway, I will keep it in mind (it looks good right now) and please excuse my silence so far, which is due to the reasons above. Have a good day. • Mountolive J'espère que tu t'es lavé les mains avant de me toucher 12:31, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spanish people
Hello Provocateur. I'm calling for a discussion on the semi-protection of Spanish people due to the constant attack by anon IP pov pushers. Do you want to come to the talk page and say your mind? Thank you. The Ogre (talk) 04:20, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Spanish people is semi-protected - done by User:Nlu. Cheers! The Ogre (talk) 16:03, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hero and Papin must be mentioned! (?)
— But they are already mentioned and dealt with in the Invention and development section a little further down in the Steam engine article; with internal links to relevant detailed articles, so your edit was a bit hasty and unnecessary. It will probably be quickly reverted by someone, so I suggest that you get in first and make your own modifications. Furthermore it has to be said that the aeolipile was a very minor part of Heron's work, which was mainly concerned with far more important issues of hydraulics and communicating vases. This is what led to the device for opening and closing temple doors that, contrary to what the Steam engine article claims, would have been physically impossible with an aeolipile. This is typical of the amount of confusion and error stifling this article which I am in the process of rewriting and reorganising completely with the support of a number of editors. I hope to be able to propose something next May when I have a bit more time - then we can all start talking at least. Best wishes--John of Paris (talk) 10:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Heartily agree about Papin. He opened the door to a practical engine which Newcomen had the intelligence and tenacity to realise. Also am constantly irritated by the "toy" notion that has been pervading popular and semi-popular wriitings for nigh-on two centuries now. Not seen your latest changes yet but will take a look soon.--John of Paris (talk) 09:59, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] British invasions of the ...
Hi, I reverted your last edits to the article since they were, in my opinion, not very objective. Going for the dramatic does make articles more "interesting" to read but unfortunately this does not mean it is encyclopedic. I think if we were to keep your edits we really would need to find sources backing them up and I don't think for things that as as subjective as "anything now seemed possible", this is something we can do. I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you disagree and we can talk more about this. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! --Ubardak (talk) 02:19, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hello there. The problem I have with the edit is primarily from the "excitement" itself. Without a source this is merely a speculation and that has no place in an encyclopedia. I understand your point and how it "must have been exciting" but that's just us trying to reason about it and neither of us is an authority on the subject. I hope this makes sense. If you can find any notable reference mentioning this excitement please, by all means, add your edit back in. Thanks! --Ubardak (talk) 02:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
