Italian Army Ranks

There is trouble at the article Italian Army Ranks. user:Horemsa has uploaded three times a fictional Rank insignia image: Image:200px-IT-Army-OF10.png, Image:210px-IT-Army-OF10.png and Image:50px-IT-Army-OF10.GIF and now continually inserts this joke image into the article Italian Army Ranks, but not under his username- he is using changing IP addresses to do so. He ignored 3 attempts to discuss his edits first, second and Template talk:Ranks and Insignia of NATO Armies/OF/Italy#Maresciallo d'Italia ?!?|third]]. In the last [48 hours no less than 6 IP addresses] reinserted this wrong image into the Italian Army Ranks article and these IP addresses only did this edit and no other edits. To break this pattern I would suggest protecting the page, so that only users registered for some time can edit the article in question. Thanks in advance --noclador 14:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. --F l a n k e r 15:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
user:Horemsa has uploaded Image:200px-IT-Army-OF10.png, Image:210px-IT-Army-OF10.png and Image:50px-IT-Army-OF10.GIF. These are fictional rank insignia that are not and have never been in use by the Italian Army. Now he is trying to push these self-created ranks into the article Italian Army Ranks and the template Template:Ranks and Insignia of NATO Armies/OF/Italy. Furthermore I suspect user:Horemsa to be one of the many socketpups of User:Yomar, or User:Yormar, or User:Iormar which have already been blocked indef. The reason for this: all 4 users uploaded fake rank insignia and are now trying to push them into the articles: Italian Army Ranks and Ranks of the People's Liberation Army. This problem is really annoying as the user is not just using a multitude of socketpups but also a wide range of IP addresses: first example, second example and a third example Can something be done??? Like block the articles? Thanks, --noclador 18:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Here are the ranks as the Italian Army homepage presents them:
  • for the generals
  • for higher officers as you can see the rank insignia he pushes are fake. I served in the Italian Army and I know firsthand, that what he pushes has never even been discussed within the Italian Army! --noclador 19:35, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Prodego. I'm pretty sure this will continue tomorrow, but at least I can now return to working on more articles about the Italian Army :-) --noclador 19:43, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

As soon as the article protection expired, the vandal returned and has vandalized the page with his crap again. I reported this (as you suggested) to WP:RFPP, but I tell you too as you're quicker and know the situation already. I hope we can block editing the article for a month? Because this vandal is clearly only bent on destruction and refuses to even discuss his edits. noclador 19:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

User:ReyBrujo has protected both articles for 7 days. --noclador 19:47, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
AND User:ReyBrujo has discovered that user:Horemsa is a socketpup of Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Roitr. --noclador 06:59, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD reasoning

Just wondering if you would please expand on or explain your reasoning in Keeping this list. Thanks! --ElKevbo 21:00, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Getting specialpage content

Hi Prodego,

I was asking me if you know how I can load the content of a special page without format in Python.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Listuser/sysop&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s does not work. Pasqual (ca) · CUT 10:59, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Gandhi Information Center / Christian Bartolf

I would like to ask (according to Seraphimblade's advise of today) if the two rewritten articles could be restored. You find them at the moment here: [[User:DGG/sandbox/Chrbartolf] or outside Wikipedia: [1]. Thank you for your kind attention and soon responses. Chrbartolf 30 June 2007

Yes, those don't really work well in Diff. you have to have the entire edit box displayed, as in clicking "edit this page". the main point is someone clicks that, goes to put something like "I have a sneaking suspicion that librarians are hiding something", but sees the ASCII instead, and reads the notice. It probably won't stop anyone, but it can't hurt anymore than the big shiny box underneath it. --Laugh! 05:03, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Last Rights Tour

Hello, I was just reviewing this AfD and I'm curious how you came to the conclusion that the result was merge w/ the Skinny Puppy article. It appears that a closer conclusion would have been to merge into a single article, which does not necessarily mean the Skinny Puppy article. I'm very new to the AfD process and am trying to get a handle on it (I must say it's forced me to learn quite a bit about Wikipedia's various policies, which has been a very good thing). I must say even though Wikipedia's not a democracy it sure looks like it sometimes, especially in these AfDs. Whelease post your reasons on my talk page, thanks a lot and good luck editing. Naufana : talk 01:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I see your point, my contention is that your opinion shouldn't carry anymore weight than anyone else in the AfD, and while a pure consensus may not have been met (there were only five contributers to the discussion) there seemed to be a leaning to merge to one article. I'm really not trying to be too confrontational here and I hope you don't interpret it that way. It's just that i've seen a couple instances of AfDs that look like they're going one way then an Admin ends it with something else. Would you object to a "Skinny Puppy live" article with the other tour articles merges into it? Naufana : talk 02:20, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thought I wanted to run by you

Hi, as you're someone who tends to have some idea of how things happen on the technical side, I had an idea that I wanted to get your input on. At the moment, Special:Unwatchedpages isn't an especially useful list - it relies on admins watchlisting pages from the list and is a pretty hit/miss affair. I was wonder what would be involved (and whether you thought it was a decent idea) in creating a stand-alone watchlist containing all those "unwatched" pages. Probably would also need to be admin only. It seems to me that if we're going to try and keep track of those pages, we need a way to easily check recent changes to them rather than just to know what pages aren't being watched. I would be interest to hear your thoughts. WjBscribe 20:40, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Talk page tabs

Thanks for your comments on the proposal. You said it "Takes up way too much space". Are you also opposed to the other options that take up less space? The point of the proposals is to decrease the prominence of the edit link and increase the prominence of the new section link, since it's more commonly used and more useful to drive-by contributors. — Omegatron 12:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
