It didn't just "survive"--its fans arose as one body and soundly beat off the attack! Viewer 03:09, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
BTW, are items and their strength completely worthless? Or do they shorten the time to kill monsters?--Doktor Illuminasyon 20:32, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- An interesting note to insert is that all of the battles are apparently simulations on some level- you can die in the game, for example, although the seriousness of death is downplayed a bit. Item strength (until an item reaches maximum power) probably is a factor. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.153.128.248 (talk) 21:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC).
No, you cannot 'die' in the game. All battles are automatated. Nothing is actually done. It's just a bar that moves across the window. No stats are actually factored in to anything. All equipment is equal to your current level. I had every item stat posted, but someone deleted it all. Items don't reach "maximum" power. There is no maximum power. 71.32.128.224 07:02, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- You can die, but are automatically resurrected with a (minor) drop in stats, the (STR) stat at least does affect the amount you can carry and so increases the rate you level up, but all this is automatic, it is a joke, but a joke a rather large number of people appear to be "playing"? Jaster 16:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- I haven't noticed any stat drops, but then, I can be away from my computer for extremely long periods of time with PQ running, so I'm not quite sure. However I've noticed that when you do "die" all that really happens (in my experience) is that you just kill monsters at a slower rate for a certain period of time. --Xertz 03:18, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Classification
Just wondering, can this *really* be classified as an MMORPG? It's a parody RPG, but has no real MMO elements and no player to player interaction whatsoever. The closest thing to that is the online ranking board. --Xertz 22:24, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- I concur, and also Role, Playing, and Game are also debatable. --Lincoln F. Stern 21:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

- MMORPG - Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, It's not useful so it must be a game, it's playable (Just, It's slightly more than a demo) There are named fanatasy characters so it is Role Playing, it is online, it has massively multiple players who can compete against each other ... So it seems to (just) meet the criterea, the only dubious one is "Game" as it is a Zero-player game Jaster 13:04, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RPG, not MMORPG
Progress Quest is a parody of RPGs, not MMORPGs. All of the parody targets are in RPGs, and there are no parody targets that are only in MMORPGs. Not sure why someone decided it was mostly a parody of Everquest. It's just as much a parody of Wizardry, surely. Tempshill 06:17, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- i think the same. Elvis 11:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it's a parody of Everquest, people didn't just decide that. Take a look at the PQ logo, it's an exact copy of the Everquest one, same font and everything --Krakko 18:47, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Ideally you would need to find an interview with the creators in which they openly state that Progress Quest is a parody of something; otherwise you will have to resort to the dubious "many people believe that" formulation, even if it seems extremely obvious. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 20:09, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
- Why is is an RPG? It is multiuser and online? Well if you call computers playing each other multiuser? The text in the Info on the web-page says "Progress Quest follows reverently in the footsteps of recent smash hit online worlds" lɘɘяɘM яɘɫƨɐƮ 09:32, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
There's also the whole guilds system, the fact that multiplayer mode does report to the server and your stats are reported... there's little interaction in-game, but it does occur via the website. Max (talk) 02:53, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

There needs to be a controversy section detailing the more controversial aspects of this game.
