[edit] Celebration date

So is this day celebrated on the date of proclamation: 28 December; or on 26 December (aka Boxing Day)? Tom Peters 10:47, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

The public holiday is on the first work day after the Christmas Day holiday. Most years this is 26 December, however if Christmas is on a Sunday, then the Proclamation Day holiday will be on Tuesday the 27th. If Christmas is on a Friday or Saturday, then the Proclamation Day holiday will be on the actual day (28th). Note that all formal ceremonies and celebrations occur on the 28th regardless of whether it's a public holiday. GK1 15:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
