Protestant Lutheran Church in Thuringia

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia is a member church of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). The seat of the church is in Eisenach.
The church is also a full member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD), and is based on the teachings brought forward by Martin Luther during the Reformation.
The church has approx. 43,604 municipality members (in December 2005) in 1,308 church parishes and is one of the Lutheran churches within the EKD. There is no cathedral church.
The church has its own academy in Neudietendorf.
The state bishop is Christoph Kähler (2006).
