From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prostitution in South Africa has been illegal since the 1950s, since apartheid prostitution has exploded with the spread of AIDS as many prostitutes have sex without condoms.[1] With the world cup approaching some social commentators have suggested prostitution should be legalised and regulated to prevent the spread of AIDS and protect prostitutes.[2]
