Promontory Point is a locale in southern Box Elder County, Utah, centered approximately at , with an elevation of 1285 meters (4217 feet) above sea level[1]. It is located on a promontory (peninsula) in the northern part of the Great Salt Lake.
Promontory Point is also the cape where this place is located, centered approximately at , with an elevation of 1309 meters (4297 feet) above sea level [2]. It is the location of the northern Utah weather radar.
Neither of these is the point where the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroad companies met, to form the Trans-Continental Railroad. For that reference, see Promontory Summit near Promontory, Utah. Promontory Point is, however, on the later Lucin Cutoff, built to bypass the Summit.
