Proja (Serbian Cyrillic: Пpoja) is a Serbian national dish of corn-bread. It used to be popular in times of widespread poverty, mostly before 1950's and now it is commonly mistaken with projara, fancy variant of proja.

- 8 cups corn flour
- 2 cups oil
- 1 baking powder
- 1 glass mineral water
- salt

- 5 cups corn flour
- 3 cups flour
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups oil
- 1 baking powder
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 glass mineral water
- 1 big slice cheese - crushed
- salt
Mix it all together and bake in greased pan (it should be 5 cm high) until golden. Best served with Kiseli kupus and Pavlaka.
