Progressive Dawoodi Bohra

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mustaali group of Ismaili Muslims are so named because they accepted the legitimacy of the Fatimid caliph Al-Musta'li after Mustansir, and not Nizar whom the Aga Khan group or Nizaris consider as their Imam.

In 1592 a leadership struggle caused the Taiyabi Mustaalis to split into Sulaimani (formerly also called Makramis) and Dawoodis. Later there was a further split into the Dawoodi Bohras and the Alavi Bohras. The Dawoodi Bohra have split again and the Progressive Dawoodi Bohra subsect formed in 1980s.
