From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Progressive Dane is an independent, leftist political party in Dane County, Wisconsin. It was first created in the fall of 1992.
Focusing exclusively on local elections, Progressive Dane endorses candidates and lobbies for issues decided on by its membership. It currently boasts six members of the Madison, Wisconsin City Council, six members of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, and four members of the Madison School Board.([1]), which is a majority (4 of 7). It has tenuous relationships and substantial membership overlap with both the Democratic Party and the Green Party.
Progressive Dane has a party platform that includes affordable housing, open government, smart growth, a living wage, and other progressive issues.{[2])
The party has won harsh criticism from local conservative media like the Wisconsin State Journal([3]) and plaudits from local progressive media like the Capital Times([4]).
