From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Progreso-Nuevo Progreso International Bridge on the U.S.–Mexico border, has been in operation at this location since 1952. It connects the cities of Progreso, Texas, and Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas.
During the first years of operation the bridge had relatively low crossings of pedestrians, automobile, and commercial traffic.
Since 2000, about 1.25 million pedestrians cross the bridge each year. The new bridge was completed in 2003 and has been an instant success. There are broad covered walkways on each side of the bridge.
