Sita devi (Lalita Pawar) is a very strict aunt for a number of young ladies, and does not allow them to fraternize with males. Along comes Pritam (Shammi Kapoor) disguised as an elderly Professor Khanna to break every possible rule of the aunt.

- Hemant Kumar's much acclaimed music for Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam lost out the Filmfare best music director's award which went to Shankar-Jaikishen for their populist score in Professor (1962).
