Producers Sales Organization
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Producers Sales Organization was an independent production/distribution company, largely handling European theatrical distribution of independent films.
Inititated in the late 1970s, PSO (its otherwise known moniker) handled European distribution of films that are today cult classics, such as The Final Countdown, Dead and Buried, Prizzi's Honor, and Once Upon a Time in America.
In its final years of existence, PSO briefly became a full-fledged production company, producing films such as Flight of the Navigator (with Disney) and Short Circuit (with Tri-Star Pictures).
After the company's folding, the assets of PSO were sold to Vestron Pictures, its home video output partner. PSO is known today as Lions Gate Films, which handles some ancillary rights to the former PSO library.
