Proceratosaurus is a genus of medium-sized carnivorous theropod dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic of England. Originally thought to be an ancestor of Ceratosaurus due to the similar small crest on its snout, it is now considered a coelurosaur, one of the earliest known. Proceratosaurus may have been related to the ancestors of later forms such as Ornitholestes and the tyrannosaurs.
