"Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" is a song by country singer LeAnn Rimes from the 2005 album This Woman; it was composed by John Kennedy and Tammi Kidd.
It is generally accepted as a haunting song with a darker tone. Although considered by many to be a break-up song, the lyrics "You oughta see the way these people look at me / When they see me 'round here talking to this stone" suggest the song is actually about the death of a lover/boyfriend. In the music video, LeAnn Rimes is wearing a ring on her ring finger, suggesting that she was married. Plus, towards the beginning of the video, flowers are in her house that would usually be seen at a funeral.
The song peaked at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; at #3 on the Country chart; and at #8 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.
