[edit] Biography
The band's name was derived from an issue of the popular comic book series Alan Ford. The group was formed in 1977 in Zagreb, SR Croatia (today Republic of Croatia), then a constituent republic of the SFR Yugoslavia. They began as a punk rock band [1] and were a part of the former Yugoslav Punk scene. They were featured on the compilation album Novi Punk Val. They released their first self-titled album in 1979. On their second album Crno bijeli svijet they affiliated with the New Wave becoming one of the most important acts of the former Yugoslav New Wave scene and later of the whole SFR Yugoslav pop and rock scene in general. Later they moved on to a mainstream pop-rock sound achieving great commercial success. On October 17 1989 the band played a memorable show in Zagreb, in front of a crowd of approximately 250,000–300,000 at the Ban Jelačić Square during which they stirred up nationalist feelings among the Croatian youths in the crowd with their song "Mojoj majci" also commonly mistaken as "Ruža hrvatska".
