[edit] Excessive personal information?

Hi - sorry if you think I'm being rude, but I feel your userpage may fall foul of the WP:USERPAGE policy, viz:

What can I not have on my user page?

  • Excessive personal information (more than a couple of pages) [1]

Doing a print preview on your page gives five pages of personal information. Your Wikipedia userpage should only really contain enough personal information that is relevant to yourself as a wikipedia editor. Camillus (talk) 01:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Excessive personal information? Thanks for the heads-up!

No, not at all! I suppose I'll just cut out whatever is not relevant to my studies and research. Thanks for the heads up! How did you find the page anyway? I thought it was only available to the user him/herself.

Glad you didn't think I was being rude! User pages are open to everybody, and can even be editted by others - as you might find if some vandal takes a dislike to you and leaves something rude on your page - it's happened to me 3 times! You can go to any user's page just by clicking their name - I found your page just because I noticed an edit you'd made to one of the articles I have on my watchlist - to be honest, I can't remember which one - maybe Jesus or Psychological Biblical Criticism?
Looking at other's user pages serves a number of purposes - one is, if you notice someone with a history of vandalism, or sock-puppetry, you may want to look to see if they've vandalised other pages (just click on their name/IP address and then click "User contributions" on the left). Another is if you're involved in an AfD debate, you may want to contact other editors with an interest in the subject area - some frown on this, but truth is, everybody does it! Another is just sheer nosiness! So - happy browsing! Camillus (talk) 23:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
