Prionesse is a compound form of prion, the infectious protein that causes mad cow disease and the French female diminutive "-esse".

Prionesse was born in Nanjing, China in the year of the rabbit and has since lived in Kingston (ON), Montreal (QC), Beverly (MA), Belmont (MA), Medfield (MA), and Pawtucket (RI). She goes to school in Durham, NC, where she studies biological anthropology and French.
