Mobygames says that 4D Prince of Persia was released in 1994 - which date is correct?

There is a new game out for DS however, it is called Battles of Prince of Persia and is official and takes place betweem SoT and WW Bowen 01:27, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

The screenshots section shows the same screenshots over the label "PC" as for the Mac version. However, the PC version I've seen is a lower-resolution DOS version. Was there an enhanced-graphics PC version? -Ahruman 21:47, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

- The PC screenshots aren't from the original DOS game (it ran on CGA, 320x200, 4 colors!) The pictures shown seem to be from the Prince of Persia 2 for DOS.

- That is definitely a set of original PC screenshots. The game could run on VGA at 320x200 with 256 colours; I remember playing it with CGA on my first PC and in VGA on my second. I can even see the original 3.5 inch disk of it sitting in my old disk box from where I'm sitting, so I can run it to check if necessary. To my knowledge there was never an enhanced version. Why they'd named it Prince of Persia? there's nothing Persian in this video game, since its DOS version is's Indian more than Persian, and these new versions are worse, they're a combinition of Turkish (weapons) Arabic (musics) and Indian (architecture and clothes), there's nothing Persian in it, even characters' names are not Persian ... it's better to name it "Prince of everywhere except Iran" Sasanjan 11:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

However, a possible solution would be to produce a new game yourself which more accurately represents Persian culture. The observation that the Sands Of Time Prince is an ancestor of the Original Prince is impossible. The original games take place in ANCIENT Persia (the prologue in the Shadow and The Flame confirms that). While Sands Of Time takes place in MEDIEVAL Persia (Official Website Comfirms this). Why a non-neutral point of view warning is in the main article but there's nothing about on this discussion page?
[edit] Historical inaccuracies.
Since the Sands of Time trilogy features Persia ruling Babylon, and the Prince’s attack strings namechecking Darius and Cyrus, that would place the timeframe of the game from about 539 to 330 BC. Yet Sands of Time and the loading screen of The Two Thrones feature Arabic writing. The Persians made the Nabatean (proto–Arabic) language of Aramaic their lingua franca, and the lettering for Arabic didn't develop until centuries later.
A bit of a historical discrepancy there, I’d say. The misconception that Persians spoke Arabic comes from Persians converting to Islam and taking up that culture, script, and so on. But Islam developed some 600 years after Jesus!

- I think a small section giving a couple of examples and explaining that the games are set in a culturally and historically incorrect persia (an alternatate world) would be appropriate, and if a couple of people who spend a little too much time reading about computer games not enough time learning about history and cultures acidentally become a little mor knowledgeable in the process, I think that's an excellent service for a Wiki that's supposed to be encyclopaedic.

What's the point of mentionning the Persian translation? The original game is in English, and the original title is "Prince of Persia". This is misleading and useless. Palpalpalpal 13:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

It is no mere coincidence that one of the later versions has a prince of Persia that transforms into somewhat of a demon (Warrior Within \ Dark Prince \ ETC). In the bible there is a section where 1 Angel of God was sent to deliver a prophecy to the prophet Daniel. Well the Angel was confronted by the "Prince of Persia" a Demon, and they fought for 21 days, only when the Angel was assisted by another Angel "Michael" was he able to deliver the message.
Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Later, after the Angel gives Daniel the prophecy he tells him that now he has to go BACK to fight the "Prince of Persia" and also the "Prince of Greece" Daniel 10:20 Then he said, "Do you understand why I came to you? But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come.
What this would mean in game terms is someone has done a little research into Christianity when putting together this game. In bible terms that may mean some Governments may actually have Demons that give them influence?? Well now we just have a huge amount of redundancy between the articles. I understand the idea behind moving some of the content over, but you've either moved too much or not removed some things from the original article.

I thought the correct name for the other prince was "Shadow". Although I cant verify it myself apparently some of the puzzles in prince of persia 2: the shadow and the flame needed the prince to seperate himself from his shadow, an ability he gained from jumping through the mirror.
