Why is "Prince" in the article title? It isn't his given name, right? --Menchi 03:07, 29 Jul 2003 (UTC)
No, it would be his title. Lots of people now have their titles in their article names. "Prince Aly Khan" vs "Aly Khan" may be iffy, but I made the call and I'm sure if it needs to be moved to conform to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (names and titles) it will be. Removed "of Syria". He wasn't a prince of Syria. The title of Prince is claimed on the basis of belonging to the Persian Imperial Qajar family. The title of prince was confirmed as a courtesy title by Britain in 1938. Since 1859 the style highness has been granted (individually) to each Imam by Britain. His legal first name was Ali, not Aly, which is how he was referred to in the popular press. (His grandson by his daughter, Yasmin, for instance, is named for him, ie Andrew Ali Khan Embiricos.) What should the article be titled, given this information? Or should it remain as is, given that most people know/knew him as "Aly Khan".Mowens35 13:55, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
It should be Prince Ali/Aly AGA Khan not just Khan. Each member of the family bears the title Prince/ss Aga Khan inculding each of his children, his siblings and his parents. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.105.150.19 (talk) 11:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Status as Playboy versus Diplomat
Considering that Aly Khan, for better or worse, was most famous for being a playboy and the lover of many prominent women, and actually was considered somewhat out of place as a UN diplomat, the article should be balanced between the two identities and properly cited.Mowens35 17:22, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
