Priya Cooper

Priya Cooper (born 2 October 1974 in South Perth, Western Australia) is a world champion disabled swimmer, winning nine Paralympic gold medals as well as world records and world chamionships.[1] She was born with cerebral palsy.

Cooper made her debut at the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, winning 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 World records and 3 Paralympic records.[2]

Her last Games were at Sydney, where she won the 400 m freestyle and took 3 bronze medals in the 100 m freestyle, 4 x 100 m freestyle relay and 4 x 100 m medley relay events.[3]

She was awarded an Order of Australia medal in 1992 and was inducted into the Western Australian Hall of Champions in 2006.
