The Prix de la Porte Maillot is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1,400 metres (approximately 7 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse and takes place annually in late June.
It is named after the Porte Maillot, a gateway to the Bois de Boulogne separating the city of Paris from the commune of Neuilly-sur-Seine. From here the Avenue de Longchamp leads towards the racecourse. A race with this title has been regularly contested at Longchamp since 1867, although in the earlier years it was considered to be a minor event.
The profile of the Prix de la Porte Maillot was raised when it became part of the prestigious Grand Prix de Paris meeting in 1952. For the first three years at this meeting it was contested over 1,600 metres, dropping to 1,400 metres in 1955. The race has remained at this distance and has continued to be run at Longchamp without exception. The fastest winning time during this period is 1m 18.3s, set by Lucky Strike in 2003.
