Prix Messidor

The Prix Messidor is a Group 3 flat horse race held annually in July in France for thoroughbreds who are three years old and older. It is run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile) at Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse.

The race was first run in 1949 at Saint-Cloud; aside from four years in the 1950s when the race was not run, it continued at Saint-Cloud until 1962. Then the race had several short spells at both Saint-Cloud and Maisons-Laffitte, until a more prolonged period at the latter began in 1973. This ended when the race was transferred to Deauville in 1997. The race returned to Maisons-Laffitte in 2005. Despite the changes in track, the distance of the race has remained the same throughout.
