The Prix Hocquart is a Group 2 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run over a distance of 2,200 metres (approximately 1 mile 3 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse and takes place annually in May.
It was first run in 1861 as the Prix de Longchamp, adopting its present title in 1885 in memory of Louis Hocquart de Turtot, a leading figure in French racing who died the previous year. The race became one of five trials for the Prix du Jockey Club, collectively known as the poules des produits, each of which held specific conditions of entry. The Prix Hocquart was restricted to horses whose dams were covered by stallions born and bred in France. Initially contested over 2,500 metres, the distance was cut to 2,400 metres in 1902.
The race has taken place away from Longchamp on seven occasions – at Tremblay over 2,300 metres from 1943 to 1945, and at Chantilly over 2,200 metres from 1997 to 2000. Otherwise the race continued at 2,400 metres until the present distance was introduced in 2005.
